The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Training of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary renewed the memorandum of understanding on cooperation within the framework of the Stipendium Hungaricum program for the period 2025–2027.
H.E István Szabó Ambassador of Hungary, as the chief guest, attended the National Model United Nations Competition event organized by Marwadi University and gave a welcome speech, than met with the leaders of the institution in Rajkot.
On 27 October 2023, H.E István Szabó Ambassador of Hungary, accompanied by Dr. Hilda Farkas counsellor for science and technology, visited the Pushp Vihar high school of Amity International Schools, as part of the "Talk with Diplomats" program.
The event was attended by nearly 300 people, representatives of India's political, economic, cultural, scientific, educational, military and diplomatic life, including many ambassadors accredited to New Delhi honoured the event, and also representatives from other Indian states and cities travelled for the celebration.
Mr. István Szabó Ambassador presented his credentials to His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on 30 June 2023, and to His Excellency Ram Chandra Poudel, President of Nepal on 5 October 2023.
Ferenc Krausz merited the shared award with his pioneering research into the experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter, which he started back in the early 2000’s.
Katalin Karikó won the (shared) Nobel Prize in the category of physiology and medicine this year for her research results that enabled the development of mRNA vaccines against COVID-19. Research biologist Katalin Karikó is the 16th Hungarian Nobel laureate and also the first Hungarian woman to receive the prestigious award.
With this event, we paid tribute to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the upcoming International Yoga Day.
